About Genevieve Roja
Genevieve Roja was raised just north of the Golden Gate in Marin County, and now lives in the city of her birth, in San Francisco. She holds a degree in communications from Santa Clara University and started out on her career path as a sportswriter, thinking she would become the next Gwen Knapp of the San Francisco Chronicle.
As an educator and organizer at a non-profit, environmental health organization for the past four years, Genevieve has amassed quite a set of event planning skills. She designs creative but educational concepts for signature fundraising events such as hikes, bikes, galas, book readings and community forums. Logistics is her bag. As is her love of celebrations done thoughtfully and stylishly. She knows a lot about "greening" your lifestyle to protect your health and tries to practice what she preaches. Which means obsessively wrapping up leftovers for the compost bin. And rinsing food from aluminum foil for recycling. And wrapping presents in fabric rather than paper.
She loves good design; shoes, shoes, shoes; mid century modern; San Francisco on a warm, windless day; Audrey Hepburn; architecture and architectural furniture; old Porsche Speedsters; Yoshitomo Nara; peonies; baking with lots of butter; plants she doesn't have to water; a French woman's style; donuts; the company of good friends; DIY; the roar of laughter and squeals at family gatherings; clotheslines and clothespins; taking time to celebrate; snapping pictures of food; her husband and his cooking and the sweet purr of her cat Samantha, who's in full purr as she writes this.
